Una St Ives
Client: C.C.Leisure
Value: £26 million
Location: St Ives, Cornwall
Una is a luxury eco-resort and spa based on the outskirts of Carbis Bay. The scheme includes 5-Star Lodges, Restuarant, Bar, SPA, Exotic Gardens, Pool and Parkland.
Lavigne Lonsdale was appointed to ‘fast track’ planning conditions to enable an early start date on site critical to the client and funding. Successful planning was granted.
We also provided soft and hard landscaping works, and specific detail packages including a relaxation garden and a feature entrance gateway to the project to help kick start phase 1 sales and marketing.
Each cluster of Lodges is set around gentle curving shared courtyard space leading to wide open parkland spaces. The courtyards include Cornish Exotic planting and Granite boulders to help provide a landscape sympathetic with the Cornish Landscape.
The client requested a key gateway design. The team took inspiration from traditional country field gates and Barbara Hepworth's sculpture to create this unique design. It successfully integrates highly technical components with traditional craftsmanship. The curved oak, structural lettering and irregular opening of the gates transforms, what might have been ordinary, into a moving sculpture.
Successful planning was gained for 123 units over 4 phases of development. Development is ongoing.
