Lavigne Lonsdale is a multi-disciplinary design practice, which has developed over the last decade into a team capable of delivering solutions to complex built environment projects in a creative, practical and responsive way.

We are a RIBA Chartered Practice, Registered Practice with the Landscape Institute, Member of the Urban Design Group and our Managing Director is a Recognised Practitioner in Urban Design.

As we also work closely with a number of related disciplines and consultants we are able to adapt and augment our services to meet the specific needs of every unique project.

Martyn Lonsdale
Managing Director
BA (Hons), DipLA ,CMLI, DipUD, RPUD
Martyn has 25 years experience of providing masterplanning, urban design and landscape architectural services on large scale, award-winning projects. He is the founding Director of Lavigne Lonsdale and oversees both the Truro and Bath studios.


Andrew Walker
Director
BA (Hons), MArch, PGcert, ARB, RIBA
Andrew joined Lavigne Lonsdale in 2014 from Grant Associates in Bath. He has a passion and skill in all aspects of the built and natural environment including architecture and urban design. His graphic ability ensures that our projects receive critical acclaim. Early 2022 Andy was promoted to Associate Director and has now been promoted to Director. Andy will be leading our Truro Studio.

Matt Williams
Director
BSc (Hons), MArch, Dip/MA
Matt joins us from RIBA Stirling Prize winning practice Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, where he was an Associate. Over his career he has lead a number of award winning projects, with a strong focus on regeneration and has previously been awarded RIBA South West Project Architect of the Year.
Through his work he has developed a wealth of experience in understanding the character of place, delving beneath the skin and learning from the social, cultural, and historical characteristics that make places unique.
Matt joins us as we embark on the next chapter of LL, and will be leading our new studio in Bath.

Nick Fish
Associate Landscape Architect
BA (Hons), DIPLA, ALI

Nick is an Associate at the practice and has been with the team for over 12 years. He is a highly skilled Landscape Architect and has worked on numerous award-winning projects. Landscape Architecture is Nick’s passion but works across the board to get involved with Masterplanning, Urban Design and Architectural projects to help mesh built form and external design. His work on Carbis Bay Hotel, Atlantic View and Heartlands are just a few projects which demonstrate this joined up design led approach.

Alison Osborne-Brown
Masterplanner, Urban Designer,
Associate Landscape Architect
BA (Hons), DipLA
With 35 years’ professional experience, Ali’s skills encompass the full spectrum of masterplanning, urban design and landscape architecture with an emphasis on intelligent planning and ‘place making’. She has an ability to sensitively unlock sites for development with specialist skills in LVIA, residential masterplanning and technical delivery. Having worked in the UK, Asia and Australia, Ali has a particular love and knowledge of plants from different climatic zones that can be used creatively in a range of projects.

Mark Kingsley
Senior Architect
BA (Hons) Architecture, PG Dip Arch, RIBA, MSc in Energy Efficient & Sustainable Building, BIAT
Mark is a very experienced qualified architect with over 25 years experience in the private sector. He has a Masters qualification is energy efficiency & sustainable buildings from Oxford and approaches all projects with a thorough understanding of sustainable principles of design and construction. Mark has worked in both Bath and is now in the Truro studio.

Christian Brown
Architect & Landscape Architect
BSc, MArch, PgDip, PgCert, ARB, RIBA, ALI​

Christian is a qualified Architect and Landscape Architect from Cornwall. He studied architecture at Cardiff and Bath Universities, while also completing studies in Landscape Architecture at the University of Gloucestershire. Christian brings a multidisciplinary approach to projects, combining architectural and landscape thinking to design places and spaces for people and nature.​

Virginia Wylie
Practice Manager
Virginia joined the team in May 2021 as Practice Manager. With over fifteen years of experience in team leadership and the delivery of award-winning events, she brings a wealth of expertise to the role. While the rest of the team focus on design and project delivery, Virginia handles the business, administrative, and operational side of the practice.

Izzy Tribley
Part 2 Architectural Assistant
BArch (Hons), MArch

Izzy joined the practice after graduating from the Architecture Masters course at Falmouth University in 2023. She previously studied at the University of Nottingham and worked in London, before moving to Cornwall.
She has a particular interest in Circular Economy and design that is environmentally and socially sustainable.

Tom Madgwick

Tom joined the Truro office after completing his bachelor’s degree at Sheffield Hallam University and went on to earn a Master of Architecture (MArch) from Cardiff University. Having grown up in Cornwall, he is passionate about celebrating the community, culture, and character of the region through his work. Tom has a strong interest in sustainable and regenerative design, and is particularly focused on the role of placemaking in creating meaningful, long-lasting new developments.

Ella Potterton
Landscape Architect Assistant

Ella has joined the practice as an Assistant Landscape Architect. Ella completed her BA (Hons) in Interior Design in 2017 at Falmouth University, and has now started her new career in Landscape Architecture. Ella has always had a particular interest in spatial design, the psychology of space and human reactions and interactions within built environments.

Matt Barber

Matt recently graduated from the Falmouth University. He has developed a deep passion for the tactility of Cornwall and a strong connection to its industrial heritage, reminiscent of the North West where he is originally from. This interest is complemented by a commitment to environmental and social design, with a focus on how architecture can drive social and sustainable regeneration in areas like Cornwall
