Lavigne Lonsdale was appointed to provide Masterplanning, Architecture, and Landscape Architecture services for the redevelopment of an oil storage depot on the Pendennis headland in Falmouth.

The site is in a highly sensitive location with a number of planning designations to respond to. - Conservation Area, AONB, SM, Proximity to Listed Buildings etc.

The design process took place over a couple of years with the design evolving through constant liaison with Historic England.

​

The final scheme looks to deliver 6 residential units with a mix of 2 - 4 bed houses and apartments, as well as a park. From all of which there are stunning views across Falmouth and the Carrick Roads. 

 

In addition, these units have been 'embedded' into the existing topography, maintaining views from the SM redoubt.

We feel that through close liaison with Historic England and Cornwall Council the proposal for the site is a sensitive, considered contextual response, providing a betterment and enhancement to the area and the local environment.

A full detailed planning application was submitted in mid February 2021 and we are awaiting the decision from the Local Authority.
