Lavigne Lonsdale was appointed as part of the design team led by PBWC to deliver Landscape Architecture services for the 'Bridging the Tamar' project. The scheme looks to create a public-facing hub, set within a shared space and landscaped gardens, celebrating the gateway to Cornwall.

The re-visioning of the Tamar Bridge offices will explore the science, heritage and engineering feat of both the road bridge and the adjacent Royal Albert Railway Bridge, constructed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1859 (Grade I Listed Structure).

The centre will celebrate the role of the two bridges in the region's social history, describing how they have shaped the continuing movement of people and goods across the Tamar. Visitors will be able to view the bridges from various vantage points, including an outdoor classroom, landscaped gardens, and an interactive art and science exhibit (e.g mock control centre and bridge building models).

The project has recently received a sizeable grant of £272,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) towards heritage interpretation.
