Masterplanning
A new garden community, shaped by landscape.
Langarth Garden Village
Langarth Garden Village is a new landscape‑led community to the west of Truro, bringing together homes, services and green space in a connected and walkable place. Set within valleys, hedgerows and existing Cornish field patterns, it grows from its setting, creating a neighbourhood that feels rooted, accessible and made for everyday life.
The project set out to deliver a new garden community for Truro that responds to climate, landscape and local need. It brings forward homes alongside schools, health services, workspaces and green infrastructure. The brief required a coordinated framework that supports walkable neighbourhoods, sustainable travel and a strong sense of community, while remaining deliverable over time.
The Brief
The masterplan is structured around landscape first. Existing hedgerows, valleys and waterways are retained and extended to form a continuous green network across the site, shaping how the village grows and connects.
Our Response
Neighbourhoods sit within this framework, each with its own character but linked by a clear network of streets, paths and green routes. Movement prioritises walking, cycling and public transport, supported by new connections and local facilities placed within easy reach of homes.
Homes, schools, community spaces and local centres are integrated rather than separated, allowing daily life to unfold within walking distance. The approach is simple and robust: working with what is there, building carefully over time, and creating a place that feels coherent from the outset.
