Lavigne Lonsdale was appointed to provide Architectural services for a private client. The original brief was to look at the remodeling of an existing property located within a prominent coastal location within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

During the early design process and following a positive pre-application discussion, it became apparent that remodeling the property was not feasible and therefore, a replacement dwelling was a more appropriate solution.

We had a close dialogue with both the planning department, AONB officer and local parish with regard to a suitable replacement dwelling within such a sensitive setting.

The scheme spreads out horizontally to reduce visual impact, whilst maintaining the views out. Natural materials, such as stone and timber also reduce the mass of the building and make it more in keeping with the local context.

Laivnge Lonsdale successfully gained planning approval for the new dwelling in August 2016.
