BOSENCE FARM REHABILITATION CENTRE,
Details
Client: Bosence Farm Community
Duration of project: 2 years
Budget: 1.4m
Overview
Stride Treglown Architects invited Lavigne Lonsdale to support them in a
competition for the design of a Drug Rehabilitation Centre in a remote
and sensitive area close to the coastal AONB near Penzance. The
competition was organised by the Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust in
association with the Bosence Farm Trust Charity. The scheme had to
satisfy the criteria for zero CO2 emissions.
The brief was to provide a scheme that was not overtly institutional but needed to provide secure accommodation (bed & communal living space for up to 15 drug users, 24 hourly surveillance and accommodation for 6 staff, workshop and life skills areas, meeting rooms and office accommodation ) and a secure site.
the scheme is now complete and a great success!
